Join us at The Coop
Without you there is no Coop....read on to see all the ways you can participate.
About The Coop
This is an independent grassroots publication, which aims to support local arts and the community as a whole. Within our pages you will find information regarding local events, advertisements for local businesses, and contributions from local creatives in various mediums including the written word and art. The Coop is both a printed and online publication, you can access the digital version from anywhere here on our website, or grab a physical copy at various locations around Truth or Consequences, namely at The Black Cat Books & Coffee Shop.
Each issue requires both time and money to create. From sourcing content, to layout and creation, printing and assembly, and finally delivery around town. I believe to best serve the community and the arts it should remain a free offering. In order to facilitate this effort we rely on the community to support us in different ways. This is where you come in….there are a few ways you can be involved, we are looking for contributors, advertisers, and donors.
Contributors
We have nothing without content, so you, our creatives, are a big part of The Coop!

We currently are accepting a variety of mediums to be included, some ideas are short stories, poetry, comics, coloring pages, book reviews, artwork, essays. Really the sky's the limit, if you created it and think it fits please send it in for consideration. You can read more about the kinds of things we are looking for here.
My goal is to help support our creatives however I can. Not only are we sharing your work in our pages, but I would love to have a "see more" page here on the site that links to all our contributors so people who love your work can stay in touch with you directly. In order to help us remain a free offering to the community we ask that contributors consider making a donation. This can be any amount of money, and the amount does not affect your chance of publication, or buy any benefits. You can donate $1 or $100, it's totally up to you, this is a judgment free zone. Your donation, small or large, helps me help you distribute your work to another audience and promote your business.
If you are interested in submitting a piece, please email TheCoopZine@gmail.com, and include “Coop Submission” in the subject line. The deadline to be in the October 1 issue is September 20, 2024.
Advertising
We aim to make advertising easy and accessible for everyone, no complicated or overinflated pricing here.
Ad Space, any size - $10
Set up fee* - $20
*Need help? We can create the ad for you, and you get to keep it to use for other purposes.
If you are interested in submitting an ad, please email TheCoopZine@gmail.com, and include “Coop Ad Submission” in the subject line. The deadline to be in the October 1 issue is September 20, 2024.

Community Events
Each issue will include as comprehensive of a list as we can of the local goings on. I will do my best to include the events that I know are happening around town. However, the best way to ensure that you or your organization's event makes the list is to send me an email.
Community event listings should include the following information: Event Name, Date, Time, Location, Cost (if any), link to more information (i.e. your website, or an email/phone number, if applicable).
To have your event included in the Community Events section please email TheCoopZine@gmail.com and include "Community Events" in the subject line. The deadline to be in the October issue is September 20, 2024 and should include anything happening in October and November.
Donors
Last but certainly not least…for our donors. Aside from content you are also a very big part of The Coop.
Many of us prefer to appreciate the arts, rather than create them. If this is you and you would like to support this effort we would love to hear from you! As you read above there is no shortage of time or monetary costs to create this publication. Any amount helps, and we will even give you a receipt for your taxes! The artists and I thank you for your generosity and help in keeping this project running.
If you are interested in donating, please visit our GoFundMe page, or contact me for more information.
Again thank you so much for your interest in The Coop. Any other questions, please email us.
xoxo,
Marlena
